3. Keep your work out on your desk unless you are finished and Mr. Anderson says it is ok.

4.   Stay in class unless given PERMISSION to leave.

5.   YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for your work and the work/assignments/tests that you may miss.

6.   If a test or assignment falls on a STORM DAY then it will be the following day.

Tentative Course Outline

Teacher: Mr. Anderson

Text: Essentials of Mathematics 10

 

Welcome! How can you do your best?

 

  1. Be here – every day and on time.
  2. Bring your math stuff. (3 ringed binder, pencil, paper, calculator)
  3. Do your work
  4. Ask questions
  5. Keep a positive attitude!

 

What we hope to cover:

 

            Pre-Unit                       Math Essentials

            Unit 1                           Wages, Salaries and expenses

            Unit 2                           Personal Banking

            Unit 3                           Spreadsheets (only if there is time)

            Unit 4                           Consumer Decisions

            Unit 5                           Geometry Project

            Unit 6                           Sampling and probability

 

Marks:

Each half of the course will be weighted equally. The first half includes your midterm exam and the second half will include your final exam.

           

            Class Work                  30%

            Assignments                 10%

            Tests                            30%

            Exam                            30%

 

Test Policy:

Missed tests will receive a mark of ZERO unless I receive a phone call or signed note from your parent/guardian on, or before, the day you return to school. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure your parent/guardian contacts me.

 

There are NO REWRITES OR MAKEUP TESTS! If you miss a test then the value of that test is added to your exam up to a max of 40%. If you are back at school before I hand back the tests to the rest of the class, then you may write the test.

 

A few last things:

            Lost text books will be paid for by the student.

Incomplete homework/assignments may have to be completed at lunch.
